Are you lacking self-esteem? Do you feel that your thoughts, feelings, and desires are of no importance to anyone? Do you feel like other people use you and abuse you? Do you feel unappreciated, lonely and depressed? It is terribly painful to go through life without a sense of self worth, a sense of meaning and purpose. But I am here to tell you that you are not alone. Many others have lived with this pain and learned to articulate their feelings, nurture their passions and bring their true identities to life.
Pia Mellody’s groundbreaking book, Facing Codependence, is an excellent resource I use to help individuals work through all of the steps necessary to heal. In a gentle, empathetic way, I help individuals develop safe boundaries and then motivate them to find their passion, so that they no longer need to rely on other-esteems in order to fill the void in their lives.
Do you often feel overwhelmed and frustrated? Are you constantly showing up late to appointments, or forgetting about them altogether? Are you frustrated by your lack of organization and time management skills? The struggle to accomplish your life’s goals despite all of these obstacles can be very painful and difficult. But I am here to tell you that you are not alone. Many others have struggled like you and have learned techniques that helped them take control of their time and live purposeful lives
Ari Tuckman, author of More Attention, Less Deficit suggests a wide variety of tools and techniques for overcoming the impulsivity, the lack of organization, and the memory issues associated with Adult ADHD. I use many of these ideas to help individuals struggling with these issues. I teach them to recognize their triggers and learn to pause and think; to consider their options. We talk about the feelings they are having in the moment when they allow themselves to veer from their chosen task, versus the positive feelings they will have if they choose to remain focused. Visual imagery helps motivate them to make the right choices and achieve their goals in all aspects of their lives.
